HELP US PLAN FOR THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION IN SAN FRANCISCO
We are looking for candidates to apply for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority’s Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). Interested in the Caltrain Downtown Extension? Bus rapid transit? Safer streets and sidewalks? Bike lanes? Over the past decade, the CAC has helped the Transportation Authority Board guide the investment of over $1 billion in local transportation sales tax funds – matched with federal, state and other local funds – into projects that improve transportation in every neighborhood and citywide. Your voice is needed on the CAC. OPPORTUNITIES
There is currently one vacancy on the Transportation Authority’s CAC. The Board will be considering incumbents and new applicants to fill this vacancy starting in December 2017. We strive for ethnic diversity and geographic representation, and will seek a representative for District 9, but accept applications for all districts on a rolling basis.

ROLE OF THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Transportation Authority has a CAC consisting of eleven members representing a broad spectrum of transportation and community concerns. The CAC’s mission is to assist the Transportation Authority by reflecting community values in the development of the mission and programs of the Transportation Authority; and communicating information about the Transportation Authority’s mission and programs back to the community. The CAC accomplishes this mission by providing the Commissioners and staff of the Transportation Authority with input on nearly all matters that go before the Transportation Authority Board and its standing committees. This includes providing comments on transportation plans, programs and studies; the Prop K (half-cent sales tax) and Prop AA ($10 vehicle registration fee) Strategic Plans; funding priorities; transportation-related legislation; and community transportation concerns. The CAC also assists in publicizing transportation projects and plans to neighborhoods, and solicits community input for feedback to the Transportation Authority. The CAC typically meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Transportation Authority’s offices, 1455 Market Street, 22nd Floor.

REQUIREMENTS
The Transportation Authority accepts applications on a continuous basis. Applicants are required to attend one of the Transportation Authority’s Plans and Programs Committee meetings to speak on their own behalf. The Committee will make recommendations for appointments to the full Transportation Authority Board, which makes the final decision. All applicants will be notified about the time and location of these meetings. Your application will remain active for two years and will be considered for any openings, unless you submit a letter withdrawing your candidacy. You must be a San Francisco resident.

HOW TO APPLY
The Board meeting will be held at City Hall, Room 250 on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM. For more information about the CAC, or to submit an application, please visit www.sfcta.org/cac, or contact the Transportation Authority at 415.522.4800.
